The Katsina State Government has disbursed ₦65 million as cash assistance to victims of banditry attacks in Sabuwa Local Government Area as part of its continued support for communities affected by insecurity.
The assistance was approved by Governor Dikko Umar Radda in fulfilment of his administration’s commitment to protecting and supporting vulnerable victims of banditry across the state.
The funds were presented to the beneficiaries by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Yusuf Ibrahim Safana, who also serves as Chairman of the Committee on Victims of Banditry including Abubakar Hamisu, Sa’idu Ibrahim Danja, Lawal Zubair, Shafi’u Ibrahim as members of the committee while Dikko Ibrahim Kukasheka as the secretary of the committee.
Safana reaffirmed Governor Radda’s resolve to ensure that victims of insecurity are not abandoned, noting that the government considers victim support an important aspect of its security and peacebuilding efforts.
He explained that the financial assistance was aimed at easing the hardship faced by affected families and helping them rebuild their livelihoods after banditry attacks.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government Area, Engineer Sagir Tanimu Sabuwa, commended Governor Radda for his sustained efforts to restore peace and provide support to the less privileged.
He stated that Sabuwa Local Government Area has remained relatively peaceful for some time, with no recent reports of banditry attacks.
Engineer Sabuwa added that the improving security situation in Sabuwa reflects a wider trend across Katsina State, where peace is gradually returning to many communities.
According to him, normalcy is steadily being restored across the state as residents resume farming, trading and other socio economic activities under improved security conditions.
