Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has assured residents of renewed commitment to quality governance, improved security and accelerated development as the state enters 2026. The governor gave the assurance in his New Year message, expressing optimism that the year would bring deeper peace, prosperity and sustainable growth across Katsina State.
Governor Radda disclosed that peace is gradually returning to the state following sustained efforts by the government in collaboration with security agencies, traditional leaders and other stakeholders. He noted that several frontline local government areas previously affected by banditry have recorded a drastic reduction in criminal activities, commending security personnel, community watch corps, traditional institutions and residents for their cooperation.
The governor highlighted education as a top priority under his “Building Your Future” agenda, noting that his administration has invested heavily in the sector through bursaries, scholarship schemes, construction and renovation of classrooms as well as the distribution of multimillion naira educational materials to ensure inclusive access to quality education.
He also disclosed that the administration has launched urban renewal projects across the three senatorial districts, including the construction of roads and other critical infrastructure. According to him, more legacy projects would be commissioned in 2026 to transform both urban and rural areas and improve the quality of life of residents.
Governor Radda said the state has recorded significant progress in agriculture and livestock development with government interventions supporting farmers and livestock breeders to achieve bumper harvests, address food insecurity and empower thousands of women. He assured that the administration would continue to strengthen the sector to enable Katsina to contribute meaningfully to national food security.
In the health sector, the governor announced the approval of 15 fully equipped conventional ambulances and the ongoing assembly of tricycle ambulances to cover all 361 wards. He added that primary healthcare centres are being upgraded to operate 24 hours while recruitment of health personnel is ongoing to enhance service delivery across the state.
Governor Radda further disclosed that he recently toured all 34 local government areas to commission projects and engage directly with residents, assuring that feedback from the tour would guide government actions in 2026. He urged citizens to remain patient, prayerful and supportive of government policies, praying for peace, unity and prosperity in the new year while wishing residents a happy and prosperous 2026.
