Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, has appealed to residents of the state to forgive him for any offence he might have committed against them in the course of his administration, expressing his willingness to extend the same gesture to anyone he might have offended.
Radda made the appeal on Saturday during the inauguration of the Katsina State All Progressives Congress (APC) Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council at the party’s headquarters in Katsina.
The governor’s appeal came as he reflected on his three and a half years in office, acknowledging the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation in his relationship with the people he governs.
He urged residents to overlook any actions or decisions that might have caused them displeasure during his administration while assuring them that he was equally prepared to forgive those who might have offended him.
“I beg you all for forgiveness as I forgive those whom I might have offended during the last three and a half years of my administration,” the governor said.
His remarks introduced a note of reflection into the political gathering, which brought party members and stakeholders together for the formal inauguration of the campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration marked a step in the APC’s preparations for the forthcoming elections in Katsina with the Tinubu/Dikko campaign platform expected to provide a structure for coordinating the party’s activities in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and Radda’s second term ambition.
The establishment of the council also signals the party’s move towards organising its campaign machinery and defining responsibilities for mobilising members and supporters across the state.
The campaign council represents an organisational framework through which its political activities can be coordinated as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Radda’s appeal for forgiveness, delivered at the inauguration also placed emphasis on reconciliation and mutual understanding as the party begins its political preparations.
The governor’s statement reflected a willingness to acknowledge that, in the course of public service, some decisions or actions may leave individuals dissatisfied making dialogue and forgiveness important elements of the relationship between leaders and the people.
The inauguration comes amid preparations by political parties across the country for the next general elections with party structures expected to play a role in coordinating campaigns and engaging supporters.
The Katsina APC Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council is expected to serve as a platform for the party’s campaign activities in the state as it prepares for the forthcoming electoral contests.
