One arrested, manhunt underway in Sheme village murder case

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a 30 year old nursing mother and her 10 month old baby in Sheme village Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

The arrested suspect, 35 year old Sahabi Rabi’u, has confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice who remains at large.Investigations revealed that the suspects lured the victims to the outskirts of the village, where they were killed.

The bodies were then burned and discarded in a nearby well. Preliminary findings indicate that the attack stemmed from a paternity dispute between the suspects and the victim.The victims’ bodies have been recovered and the police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

Condemning the act, Commissioner of Police Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu described the murders as “barbaric and inhumane” and assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring justice. “No stone will be left unturned during this investigation,” he said.

The police have appealed to members of the public to provide information that could aid in the arrest of the second suspect, assuring that all tips will be treated with strict confidentiality.The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be communicated in due course.
