The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting victims of banditry attacks as the state committee on victims of banditry paid a sympathy and assessment visit to Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina to evaluate the treatment and care being provided to injured victims.
The committee, constituted by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda was led by Yusuf Ibrahim Safana. Other members of the delegation included Lawal Zubair, Sa’idu Ibrahim Danja, Abubakar Hamisu, Shafi’u Rabi’u Safana, Abdullahi Sani and Kukasheka.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Radda during the visit, Safana said the administration remains deeply concerned about the plight of citizens affected by insecurity and is determined to ensure that all victims receive adequate medical attention and humanitarian support.
He explained that the committee was established to identify victims of banditry, monitor their welfare and ensure that government interventions reach those most in need. According to him, the governor has directed that no victim should be left to bear the burden of treatment alone.
Safana noted that the visit to the hospital was aimed at assessing the quality of care being provided and obtaining firsthand information on the condition of the victims currently undergoing treatment. He assured the patients that the government would continue to stand by them until they fully recover.
Among the victims visited was Salisu Ibrahim from Kankara who sustained a gunshot injury to his hand during an attack on his home. He recounted that armed bandits invaded his house and shot him before fleeing.
Salisu expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for taking full responsibility for his medical expenses, describing the governor’s intervention as timely and life saving. He said the support had eased the financial burden on his family and given him hope for a full recovery.
Another patient, Aminu Ibrahim said he was travelling when bandits attacked and shot him at Jikamshi. Although he is from Kano, he said the Katsina State Government had accepted responsibility for his treatment and welfare.
Hospital officials and beneficiaries commended the state government for its compassionate response, noting that the intervention reflects a leadership that is not only focused on restoring security but also on caring for those who have suffered its devastating effects.
