The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Katsina State Chapter, has inaugurated a Credentials Committee to oversee the verification of members ahead of the association’s forthcoming leadership election.
The inauguration is part of preparations by the association to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process that will usher in a new leadership for the chapter.
The Chairperson of the state chapter Hannatu Mohammad, performed the inauguration and charged members of the committee to discharge their duties with transparency, fairness and dedication.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Mohammad explained that the committee was carefully constituted to safeguard the integrity of the association’s electoral process and ensure that only duly qualified members participate in the election.
She noted that the committee would play a vital role in verifying the eligibility of members, stressing that the responsibility entrusted to them was critical to maintaining the integrity and unity of the association.
According to her, the exercise is an important stage in the democratic process of the association, as it will help guarantee credibility and fairness in the forthcoming election.
Mohammad expressed confidence in the ability of the committee members to carry out the assignment effectively, noting that they were selected based on their competence, commitment and dedication to the ideals of the association.
The Credentials Committee is chaired by Amina Bello, with Rukayya Tinau serving as Secretary while Safiya Yusuf, Amina Saminu and Rahma Ibrahim will serve as members.
The chairperson urged the committee to approach the assignment with sincerity and neutrality, emphasizing that members of the association were counting on them to ensure a transparent and credible verification process.
She thereafter formally declared the committee inaugurated and wished the members success in carrying out their responsibilities.
